ONE MILLION DOLLAR SIGN
This is a demonstration sign. Your own sign has yet to be created.
A singular sign, created from what you choose.
One singular work. One million dollars.
Your sign will be the last personal sign Jan Einicke ever creates.
One unique work. Its elements are yours to choose. Its final form is created exclusively for you.
The value is in the construction.
You decide what goes into your sign.
You may choose letters, initials, numbers, zodiac signs, other symbols, ideas drawn from your interests, passions or memories — or something entirely different. If no suitable symbol exists, one is created specifically for your sign.
The shapes and strokes of your chosen elements determine what form the sign can take.
That is why fundamental changes to the finished sign are generally not possible.
Its final form cannot be foreseen. The artist’s task is to find an aesthetically coherent composition within these constraints — to discover the sign.
Chosen elements become structure.
This animation reveals the construction of the demonstration sign, combining O, M, D and S; $1M; 1,000,000; 2026; and J and E.
Separate elements become one coherent form.
Every stroke has a reason.
Every stroke forms part of a letter, number or symbol. None is added merely for decoration.
Each commissioned work is accompanied by a private explanation of its construction. Information entrusted for the construction is treated confidentially.
What would your sign become?
A drawing. A sculpture. A mark in architecture. A private object passed on through generations.
Or something no one has imagined yet.
More? Less
Perhaps in bronze, stone, glass or light. On a ring, within a building, or somewhere entirely unexpected.
The possibilities belong to the imagination.
Previous signs.
These signs were created from different sets of personal information. They are not designs to choose from. And none of them can show you what your own sign will look like.
Imagine someone who has seen countless faces, but has never seen their own. They may find some beautiful and others less appealing. Yet they cannot infer what their own face looks like simply by looking at others.
The same is true of your sign.
Its final form can only be discovered through the elements you choose.

One private sign work.
With this commission, Jan Einicke will bring his work creating personal signs to a close. No further personal signs will follow.
The completed work is delivered digitally as a black-and-white vector PDF, accompanied by a black-and-white explanation of its construction.
The scalable vector original provides the basis for realizing the sign in virtually any size or medium.
The commissioner receives exclusive, worldwide and perpetual rights to use, reproduce, adapt, transfer, license and realize the sign in any form.
Further design development, technical adaptation or physical production may be commissioned separately.
