THE ONE MILLION DOLLAR SIGN
A private sign, constructed from real information.
One singular work. One million dollars.
A singular sign work, constructed from a private set of names, numbers, symbols and personal references.
The value is in the construction.
The work begins with a private set of names, numbers, symbols and personal references. From that material, one sign is constructed.
Its structure belongs to the person, family, company or private context behind it. Every element is derived from the source material.
Once constructed, its final presence can be defined through scale, material, surface, line character, framing, documentation and presentation.
Information becomes structure.
This animation shows the public One Million Dollar Sign demonstrator. It is constructed from O, M, D and S; $1M; 1,000,000; 2026; and the initials J and E.
Letters, numbers and symbols are transformed into one closed sign. The animation makes that construction visible.
Every stroke has a reason.
The public demonstrator reveals the principle behind the work. A commissioned sign is constructed from private source material and documented privately.
The finished sign may be seen. Its complete construction remains part of the private documentation of the work.
What would your sign become?
A drawing. An engraving. A painting. A sculpture.
A seal. A signet ring. A personal mark.
Cast in bronze. Carved into stone. Set into glass, timber, concrete or metal.
Incorporated into architecture. Placed at a residence. Carried aboard a vessel.
Embossed on paper. Bound into a book. Preserved in a private archive.
Passed on as part of a personal legacy.
Or something not yet imagined.
More? Less
Perhaps a wall relief, a floor inlay, a threshold, a gate, a door, a garden wall, a fountain, a pool, a foundation stone or a quiet object within a private room.
Perhaps a ring, a key, a seal matrix, a bookplate, a collector’s mark, a document case, a time capsule, a vessel, a vehicle or a work held within a private collection.
It could be carved, cast, cut, engraved, embossed, etched, inlaid, illuminated, projected, reflected or inherited. It could belong to a building, a room, a library, an archive, a collection, a family or a future generation.
And that would still be only the beginning.
One private sign work.
The commissioned sign is constructed from the commissioner’s own names, numbers, symbols and personal references, developed privately and executed as a final original work.
